The sandy beaches, rocky bluffs and deluxe resorts of this cape offer a relaxing and picturesque base for vacationers visiting Puerto Vallarta.

Cabo Corrientes is a scenic cape jutting out from the Pacific Coast of Jalisco. Its shoreline is adorned with golden beaches and rocky cliffs, providing stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. Make your way through the scenic countryside and along the coastline and get a sense of the local village culture.

The charming town of El Tuito lies in the center of the cape, providing many of the region’s schools and shopping options. Enjoy the town’s cool breeze and serene ambiance. Relax with snacks and drinks in a café overlooking the main plaza, which has an enchanting bandstand. Check out the works of art on display in the Galeria Coppelia, where you can purchase artisanal crafts and jewelry.

For a change of scenery, make your way west to the Pacific Coast. Here, you’ll find the spas and hotels of resort town Villa del Mar. Have a picnic in the Villa del Mar Plaza and stroll along the scenic, sandy strand. Along the cape’s northern coast is Majahuitas Beach, where you can snorkel and try watersports.

Back inland, stroll through the Puerto Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Highlights here include the Vanilla Plantation, the Forest Preserve and several hiking trails.

Note that the cape has long held a prominent role on charts that helped sailors navigate around the area, much like Point Conception in the U.S. The area has a fairly dry climate, with mostly warm weather year round.

The town is in the western part of the state of Jalisco on the western side of Mexico. It is at the southern end of the Bahía de Banderas (Bay of Flags). From Puerto Vallarta, drive south for about 30 miles (50 kilometers) to reach the heart of the region. Continue south to reach the Selva de Cuitzmala and the Selva de Melaque on the Pacific Coast.
