I stayed at this hotel previously in 2017, and it was a completely different experience. Granted, the area has changed a lot, but the hotel still feels rundown from my previous experience, and it lacks basic amenities such as adequate illumination and essential items like pillows and towels.
I believe it needs further improvements, especially now that the area is undergoing modernization.

Chapala can get a little sunny so be sure and take a light sweater. Sunscreen is always a must and traveling with a small umbrella is a good idea too. The views are beautiful
