Two iconic sports venues are located side by side on the riverbank, overlooking the gems of the Downtown District and Mount Washington.

In the heart of Pittsburgh, visit North Shore where there are enchanting riverside walks and scenic views of the water. Complementing leafy parks by the water are the district’s prestigious museums and iconic sports arenas. Stroll along the North Shore Trail and appreciate wonderful vistas of the river.

Do as locals do, with a day out at the PNC Park arena to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates Major League Baseball franchise. While watching the game, notice how the skyscrapers of the Downtown District hover over the stadium.

Next door stands Heinz Field, where the Pittsburgh Steelers football team plays. Join almost 70,000 spectators to watch a game, with the river making a picturesque backdrop. Attend some of the occasional concerts held in this arena, which has hosted varied acts such as U2, the Rolling Stones and Taylor Swift.

Joining the neighborhood to the Downtown District is a set of three almost identical yellow bridges. Walk north along the Andy Warhol Bridge in the middle and admire the vistas, before reaching the Andy Warhol Museum. Trace the Pittsburgh local’s story, study his works of art and create your own pieces using his techniques.

For a change of scenery, wander through the North Shore Riverfront, where you’ll find the sculpture Tribute to Children by Robert Berks and the Vietnam Veterans’ Monument beside Fort Duquesne Bridge. Next to the Bill Mazeroski Statue and the Korean War Memorial lies the Water Steps, a stunning art installation made up of cascades and blocks. Let your kids splash around in this fountain and have a picnic by the sculptures of Allegheny Landing.

North Shore occupies a stretch of land on the northern bank of the Allegheny River, in central Pittsburgh. Arrive at one of the many bus stops or travel by metro to the North Side station. Stay in the city to see neighboring zones such as the Cultural District, Downtown Pittsburgh and South Shore.
