The Wheel at ICON ParkTM rises 400 feet (120 meters) in the air above the many attractions in Florida’s popular family vacation spot, Orlando. You can visit with a group because up to 10 people can sit in the enclosed air-conditioned capsule for a single-revolution ride that lasts 18 minutes.
Formerly known as the Orlando Eye, the giant wheel opened in 2015. Today The Wheel at ICON Park offers the perfect way to get introduced to Orlando or recap your visit. As you rise slowly from the ground, look for recognizable landmarks, including Disney World and Universal Studios, as well as numerous lakes to the south and west. On a clear day, you can see east almost 60 miles (100 kilometers) to Cape Canaveral.
Rides start around lunch time and continue until after dark year-round. Watch the light shows in the evening when 64,000 LED lights change colors in fascinating patterns.
Enjoy other parts of ICON Park too. Madame Tussauds Wax Museum features life-size and lifelike statues of famous figures, from Taylor Swift to superheroes, athletes and politicians. Pose with them for great selfies. Walk through a 360-degree glass tunnel to view various marine animals at SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium. Enjoy the Museums of Illusions and Max Action Arena. Take an on-the-ground spinning ride on the Carousel on the Promenade. You’ll also find a variety of boutiques and kiosks for on-site shopping.
Purchase single ride or annual tickets for The Wheel check for combo deals online for other ICON Park attractions. Children under age three ride for free. Tickets often include discounts for retail and dining sites. The Play Pass covers 10 Icon Park attractions and provides discounts at area restaurants.
To get to the Wheel at ICON Park, drive about 20 minutes west from Orlando International Airport. Disney World is about a 15-minute drive southwest and Universal Studios Florida is 12 minutes north. Start your Orlando vacation at The Wheel to get a geographic sense of all the other places you want to visit in the area. Look for The Wheel rising above the skyline as you travel around the city.
