In Xalapa, the capital of the state, we will begin the tour by visiting the former treasury El Lencero, among large coffee plantations and beautiful gardens, on the shore of a lake where you will appreciate delicate vintage furniture, antique objects, and some belongings from Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana, former president of Mexico who lived and enjoyed this beautiful house. Its first owner was a soldier of Hernan Cortes named Juan Lencero.
Then, we will go to Xico–a magical world of ancient traditions and legends that are surrounded by green hills and mountains at 2,800 meters above sea level. We will get to know the Parish of María Magdalena from the 16th century, with a neoclassical style façade, the Patio de las Palomas (Pigeons' Patio) where a collection of more than 400 beautifully embroidered elegant dresses of the patron saint Magdalena of Xico is exhibited. If you take this activity in the month of July, you will find its facades and streets decorated for these patron saint festivities. Walk through its cobbled streets and enjoy the exquisite food, and the famous mole xiqueño of the region, too.
